Thanks to all 86 volunteers who came out on Saturday for the first big build of the season. We had perfect weather, great people and a good plan, so it’s not surprising that we had great results.
I rode it on Sunday with Joel, Barry, Lizzy, Preston, Darryl, and Jeanine. The entire Outer Limits line totals 5.25 miles, making it the longest trail at Growlers by a good margin. It has a lot of variety. It is not a gimmee.
Here’s what got done -
- The bridge on Trust Me has been extended to handle the water flow. Dave’s guys did a fantastic job. To make it work, they had to spend a lot of time in the creek recruiting rock.
- The Re-entry bridge was completed and several dirt projects were done. The bridge is solid and perfectly aligned for riders coming off the hill. Also, the dirt work that Andrew, Thomas, and others have done on this line has really amped up the fun-factor. It’s the perfect rush to finish off Outer Limits.
- The three missing pieces of Outer Limits were opened, which puts the entire loop in play for the first time. A huge amount of vegetation was cleared and tread work was done.
- A great start was made on the Outer Spike line which will eventually connect Outer Limits to the Golden Spike. This will be an ongoing project.
Special thanks to our incredible crew chiefs - Juntu Oberg, Nancy Stone, Dave LeMonds, Andrew Holder, Joel Rogauskas, Preston Antisdel, Scooter Sutterer, Bob Horness, Nathan Frechen, and Kim McCormack.
Big thanks also to Juntu and Bob for handling the raffle.
Our next work party is set for January 5th. Get it in our your calendar.
