March 3rd Info
Crew chiefs arrive by 8:30 to discuss the plan and do early work to stage materials. All other crew arrives at 9. Lunch will be provided by NWTA. Bring beer for the social hour at the end of the day. If it’s a monsoon, we can get a beer at the Pastime. It wouldn’t hurt to bring a bike to test things.
General Needs the Day of the Build
- Everyone bring a five-gallon plastic bucket
- Everyone bring tamps, shovels, and rakes
- Nathan, Dave, Michael, and Bob - bring any hardware you think we might need and tools for the installation
- Nathan, Randy, Michael, Bob, Darryl, and Jeep bring chainsaws
- Bob brings his weedeater
- Kevin and Randy - check the wall ride to see if you need any specific kind of drill bit or a tool to remove the wall from the posts; also not sure you will need any scrap lumber but think it through in advance
- Juntu - bring garbage bags
Crew Objectives -
Dave, Nathan, Michael, Bob
- Work with Ryane to position and align all logs and slabs
- Make sure everything is stable and idiot-proof to the greatest degree possible
- Use street slabs for a smooth transition up, off, and in between
- Skim the tops of the three logs
- Cross-hatch the slabs for traction
Kevin and Randy
- Remove the wall ride from the posts; cut into sections if necessary
- Work with Ryane on the removal of the posts and their reinstallation in the new spot; put Humpty back together again and make sure it rides well
- Check with Ryane at the start of the day about features he wants to upgrade; it would be smart to have him or the other operator stage any dirt you need early on; we can get crew to help with tamping
Jeep and Nic
- Have Ryane prep the area where the pipe feature will be located
- Hit it with Bob’s weedeater
- Mark locations of all pipes and have an operator stage them
- Use dirt and rock for the up and off for each pipe
- Spread rock between pipes to give riders a decent surface
- Position the large log that has quite a bit of rot. Have one of the chainsaw guys handle the ends and top. Use street slabs for the up.
Juntu and Herb
- Clean all sand off the bottom of the steep hill at the south end of the park and shovel it well back
- Pick up remains of all sandbags and dispose of
- Tamp any features that Kevin and Randy are working on
- Rake and tamp rock that is spread between the pipe features
- I know this sounds stupid, but have your guys use the buckets to pick up and stage loose rocks; the ground has finally hardened; those rocks make riding more difficult and keep us from using a mower; stage them in a spot where the machine can get to them and haul them away.
- Do a complete trash pick-up of the park
- You will have the most bodies; split your people up as needed
Ryane
- Work with the city operator to deal with all items on the list
- Stage dirt for Kevin and Randy for the upgrade of any features that need love; do this early so that Juntu can assign her crew to tamp
- Remove posts for Kevin and Randy
- Take out vegetation on the pipe feature line
- Align all logs and slabs for that feature
- Move the pipe into position
- Dig holes and place posts for Kevin and Randy
So can anyone volunteer and participate for this sow?
