Thirty participants braved very warm weather to receive instruction on features throughout the park. Sessions included work on the pump track, skinnies, elevated trail, log-overs and drops.
The camp ran from 10 until 2, with Kevin Knorr from CanyonView Cyclery handling safety checks before the day got rolling.
Dara Sim, Liz Wishaw, Tana Gutzka, Sara Carlson, Ann Spencer, and Jamie Menagh were on hand to demo the features and provide additional assistance.
Mel and Debbie passed along their thanks to the following sponsors and supporters – City of Castle Rock, Hammer Nutrition, Harlot Wear, PeaceHealth, The Lumberyard, Dara Hartman Ceramics, CanyonView Cyclery, Aries Apparel, BikeRay, and Yankee Candle Company.
Special thanks to all the volunteers who have helped make the bike park a reality, as well as to Dave LeMonds, Jeff Lipton and Mike Patterson for hauling the pump and hoses down to the site for several days before the event to soak things down.
Nothing firm yet, but there is the possibility that Mel and Debbie will attempt to expand the event in 2013.
Don’t forget to put the grand opening on your calendar. We want everyone – including kids and spouses – to show up on September 22 to join the party. Details to come.
Great job getting this event off the ground Mel. Kudos to all the helpers as well. I can’t wait to see how many participants you get next year!
